Cerys Matthews – Don’t Look Down, The New Album and UK Tour
Cerys Matthews has hit what is arguably the busiest time in her career. October 5th sees the release of hew new album ‘Don’t Look Down in both Welsh and English language versions to coincide with this theatre tour.  The live shows will feature old and new songs written or collected by Cerys during her far-reaching travels and will be backed by two of Nashville’s finest young musicians, Kevin Teel and Mason Neely.

It is Cerys’ wide-ranging and discerning taste in music which has led to the hosting her own daily radio show on BBC’s 6 Music where she features live music from such diverse sources as The Kenyan Boys’ Choir to her coverage of Glastonbury Festival.  Cerys has also had a busy year in television, including writing and presenting a prime-time BBC2 documentary on Celtic poets, a documentary on Dorothy Squires and the formation of her own TV and Radio production company, Rainbow City.

Cerys has come a long, long way from her widespread popularity as lead singer of the group ‘Catatonia’ which burst onto the music scene with hit singles like ‘Road Rage’ and ‘Mulder and Scully’ as well as number one albums in the charts.  She had an equally successful parallel solo career duetting with Tom Jones on the perennial classic ‘Baby It’s cold Outside’ and with Space on ‘The Ballad of Tom Jones’ plus two critically acclaimed solo albums ‘Cock a Hoop’ and ‘Never Said Goodbye’. More recently, ‘Awyren=Aeroplane’ won the Eisteddfod award for contemporary song – the first time it had been bestowed in twenty-three years!

And now Cerys will once again take to the road with her band and tour her brand new material as well as re-visiting some of the old classics. The tour will begin on October 17th and will see her visiting theatres in both England and Wales.
