Libera

If you have never heard the haunting, atmospheric sound of LIBERA then prepare yourself for something very special.   The unique, layered harmonies of this  boy choir from Surrey have been praised around the world and their CDs have sold in their millions taking them into the classical and pop charts wherever they sing in concert and far beyond.

LIBERA is formed from an ever-evolving pool of about 30 boys from schools in the Norbury, Streatham and Croydon area.   They range in age from seven to around fourteen.  The boys themselves are normal fun-loving young people who just love to sing.  They are cheeky, happy lads who love music yet who have the discipline to practise, record and sing in concert just because they enjoy it so much.    They are justifiably proud of LIBERA and everything the group has achieved.

The group has featured on TV on many occasions, most recently as special guests of the programme ‘Last Choir Standing’ when they sang on the final night of the competition.   Libera also performed with Aled Jones on Christmas Eve on ITV when they joined him in a special programme to perform well-loved Christmas carols.  This programme has now been released as a DVD.   Available from 24th November 2008 is a DVD ‘Angel Voices in Concert’ taken from a live concert in Lieden in the Netherlands and a CD entitled ‘Eternal – Best of Libera’ was released on 15 December 2008.

Dressed in their stunning long, white robes, the LIBERA boys produce haunting and timeless classical pieces - often sung in Latin.    They enchant audiences wherever they go. There is no-one quite like them anywhere in the world!

Libera are the subject of a Songs Of Praise special programme on BBC1 on 25th January, presented by  Aled Jones.
